Then Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Represents PERMANENT CHANGE
As He was passing along by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew, Simon’s brother. They were casting a net into the sea, since they were fishermen. “Follow Me,” Jesus told them, “and I will make you fish for people!” Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. Going on a little farther, He saw James the son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in their boat mending their nets. Immediately He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed Him.
“Follow Me” is a call to be a DISCIPLE.
LOYAL to Jesus
“If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes,
and even his own life—he cannot be My disciple.
Takes PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for the mission
Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.
In the same way, therefore, every one of you who does not say good-bye to all his possessions cannot be My disciple.
Reflects the WORD
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, you really are My disciples.
“I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must also love one another. By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
A Disciple MAKER
My Father is glorified by this: that you produce much fruit and prove to be My disciples.
