5 Warning Signs and a Way Out

5 Warning Signs and a Way Out

1. You Are Trapped in a Recurring Sin

Set the trumpet to your lips! One like a vulture is over the house of the LORD because they have transgressed my covenant and rebelled against my law. Hosea 8:1

So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! Romans 7:21-25

2. You Are Trusting in Religious Activity

To me they cry, “My God, we—Israel—know you.” 3 Israel has spurned the good; the enemy shall pursue him. Hosea 8:2-3

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ Matthew 7:21-23

3. You Are Captive to Human Resources

They made kings, but not through me. They set up princes, but I knew it not. With their silver and gold they made idols for their own destruction. I have spurned your calf, O Samaria. My anger burns against them. How long will they be incapable of innocence? For it is from Israel; a craftsman made it; it is not God. The calf of Samaria shall be broken to pieces. Hosea 8:4-6

4. You Have a Sense of Emptiness

For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. The standing grain has no heads; it shall yield no flour; if it were to yield, strangers would devour it.
Israel is swallowed up; already they are among the nations as a useless vessel. Hosea 8:7-8

I have seen all the things that are done under the sun and have found everything to be futile, a pursuit of the wind. Ecclesiastes 1:14(CSB)

5. You Find Yourself Considering Unimaginable Options

For they have gone up to Assyria, a wild donkey wandering alone; Ephraim has hired lovers. Hosea 8:9

Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the LORD, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you. Hosea 10:12

What is the way out?
– Submit to God’s Truth (repent)
– Seek the Lord (believe)
– Receive His grace, forgiveness, replenishment (be saved)
